Conference “Russia-Azerbaijan: interconfessional dialogue and Islamic Solidarity in the name of peace, tranquility and cooperation” was held in Saint Petersburg on the 23rd of November. Members of parliament and government, scientific and religious figures from the two countries participated in this conference held within the frame of “Year of Islamic Solidarity”.

Appeals of Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of Federation Council of Federal Assembly of Russian Federation and Kirill, patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the event participants were read at the conference.

Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Chairman of Caucasian Muslims Board mentioned in his speech that, tolerance and multiculturalism was applied as a state policy in Azerbaijan. He emphasized that, chief of our Government acting as defendant of universal and religious values at global leve, stimulates elimination of xenophobia and islamophobia in the international arena.
Agreement on cooperation was signed between Caucasian Muslims Board and the Religious Board of Saint Petersburg and the North-West Region of Russia.
